How can i make my hair grow???

Im mixed..Half Black and half white...I have african american hair texture..... no matter how long i grow my hair out it does not grow past a certaint point...maybe 1 inch to an inch and a half...i want to be able to get my hair long enough to braid or just grow a fro anywayz any ideas????

How can i make my hair grow???

hair food

How can i make my hair grow???

rogaine?

How can i make my hair grow???

Just let it go. It WILL grow eventually.

How can i make my hair grow???

take multivitamins

it makes your hair grow faster

i thought it was a lie then i started taking them and it actually works

How can i make my hair grow???

Eat your vegetables.

How can i make my hair grow???

You can take Vit. E

How can i make my hair grow???

eat lots of jell-o!

How can i make my hair grow???

maybe you should ask a girl.they have all the answers

How can i make my hair grow???

Try over the counter prenatal vitamins, Vitamin E, and don't apply too much heat to your hair. Your hair and nails will be healthy, and typically pregnant women have great growth because of the vitamin intake. (PS...It's ok to take them even if you're not pregnant)

How can i make my hair grow???

I have been taking some vitamins that are specifically for hair loss and growth, they really make your hair grow faster, it is called "one source hair, skin and nails" I got them at my local walmart in the aisle with all the vitamins, hope this helps

How can i make my hair grow???

use horse shampoo and conditioner, and there is a grese called magical grow is reallt does work and every month get your ends clipped i have the same texture hair and all of this works! But i also get relaxers every 3 months

How can i make my hair grow???

apparently cold weather makes your hair grow quicker but then again most people cant control that.....

How can i make my hair grow???

You should use a horse shampoo called MANE %26amp; TAIL. It was made for horses but I know tons of people who use it and I have used it, and it actually helps your hair grow. You can also take multivitamins, which help also. I hope this helps, good luck!

How can i make my hair grow???

now this is true...years ago when i need jus a job to earn some cash i worked on a chicken farm an unloaded the chickens off the trucks by hand, each chicken i had to grab by the legs and i got covered in chicken s**t.........my hair grew soooo fast and long, of course i showered every day but it did really grow.

How can i make my hair grow???

What you want to do is take a mulit-vitamin that also has ingrediants known to help your hair. GNC sells one that's made for guys/men (so you won't get embarrased by buying it). It's called Men's Nourish Hair

http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?pro...

I use the female version and absolutely LOVE it ! The only advice I can give you is that you have to remember that nothing works overnight. You have to give your body time to start to realize that you are taking it regurally %26amp; start to see results. For me, I started to see results in about 2 months. Not only will it help it to grow, in general, but, will make it stronger, so it will be less likely to break off when you braid it.

If your hair is dry like an African-American's, I would totally NOT use the horse shampoo Mane %26amp; Tail. I was contemplating using this stuff myself, so, I read a TON of reviews (I always read reviews before buying stuff) %26amp; everywhere said that it's not made for your type of hair texture and will actually make it more dry (%26amp;, if it's more dry, it will also break more easily %26amp; you won't be able to grow it b/c it will keep breaking).

Also, remember that a strand of hair grows from INSIDE your scalp, so, no matter what you put ON your hair, it won't help it grow quicker. You have to feed your hair in a sense by making sure it had everything you need in you when your follicles make them.

Oh, also, make sure you are eating enough protein in your diet, as hair is made up of dead protein. If you don't have enough protein in your body, there is no way you can expect to have enough left over (after you use it for your muscles) to be able to make strong and healthy hair.

How can i make my hair grow???

Vitamins B, C, F, zinc, iron, copper and protein are essential for hair growth. Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables is probably the best way to achieving healthy hair.Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c... for more details.

Can someone please give me an idea on a hairstyle if your hair is a little above shoulder length?

I'm an African American and my hair is straight.

Can someone please give me an idea on a hairstyle if your hair is a little above shoulder length?

get your hair stacked!

this means it will be shorter in the back than in the front!

it goes in a layer around the side and the closer to the front the longer it is!

this is a really cute hairstyle for ppl with straight hair!

good luck!

Im 12 and i want to know how i can grow my hair long?

im african american so my hair is so fragile how can i make it grow long

Im 12 and i want to know how i can grow my hair long?

To grow hair long it needs to be in good condition. Don't put harsh chemicals on it, and make sure it gets plenty of moisture. To keep it in good condition, put cholesterol on it once a week for about a half hour, then rinse it out and follow with a rich conditioner. You will need to sleep on a satin pillowcase, too. The friction caused by a normal pillowcase can break the hair, but the satin won't do that. Good luck!

Im 12 and i want to know how i can grow my hair long?

Trim it every now and then when you get split ends and shampoo regularly and just keep doing regular stuff.

Im 12 and i want to know how i can grow my hair long?

trim doesn't really works it just an old trick

use hair mayonaise apply it every day for a month and massage ur scaps

eat more protein if ur a vegan try nuts and tofu

and there are fast growing hair shampos you can get it at ulta

Im 12 and i want to know how i can grow my hair long?

well u just have to keep it haelthier so u dont prevent growth of ur hair. GET regular trimmings cuz it'll get rid of split ends but mayk sure that whoever cuts it 4 u does a little at a tym.use a shampoo dat will keep ur hair healthy an sumthing dat stops breakage of ur hair. also try not 2 do alot of heat styling bcuz its damaging! GUD LUK!!

Im 12 and i want to know how i can grow my hair long?

Your hair is always growing and if you just leave it alone, it will get longer. However, since a lot of African-Americans have very brittle hair, whatever has grown out tends to break off very easily.

You should know that hair is formed inside your skin. It then pushes up to make room for new hair to form, and what you see is already the old formed hair. The ends are the oldest. You need to be very healthy inside, so that your body has all the nutrients to form good strong hair. Make sure you have a good balanced diet, get lots of exercise and keep free from disease and illness (hair usually gives a good indication of your health).

Since your hair is so fragile, it can break simply by crushing it. Be very careful how you handle your hair. Be extremely gentle! Never comb through it with any force -- if you meet any resistance, don't pull! You will only break your hair that way. If you have to wear any form of restraints (clips, pins, bands) make sure they are not tight and that they are coated if possible. Be extra careful when removing them!

Use a good but very gentle shampoo. Baby shampoo is NOT gentle! Don't do it too often since any shampoo will make your hair drier if used too often. A good moisturizer is important -- you want WATER in your hair, not oil. If you live in a dry area, you may consider some sort of coating (like oil) right after washing your hair, which will tend to hold the water longer, but then you have the other problem of too much oil in your hair! Try jojoba oil to see if that helps.

Do not use any kind of chemical processes (straighteners, colour) on your hair, if at all possible. These all weaken your hair, no matter how gentle they are, or how well you do them. Natural is best at all times.

Know also that as your hair gets longer, it will be more work to look after it. It's going to get in the way always, and you will be tempted to tie it back or use pony tails. Keeping it under control is important for many reasons, but if you put too much tension on it with tight rubber bands, you put too much stress on your hair, and it will break. You may even pull some of the hair out, especially those weaker hairs around the front hairline. Be gentle in everything you do!

Hair is always growing. It will get long. You want to make sure it stays on your head for as long as possible.

Why does leave in conditioner make relaxed hair curly?

relaxed hair is chemicly straightened hair for african americans

Why does leave in conditioner make relaxed hair curly?

because they contain humectents that attract moisture to the hair follicles. This will cause hair to revert back to its natural state as much as it possible can.

Why does leave in conditioner make relaxed hair curly?

It's easier to curl any thing if it's bendable. If it's strat,by a chemical process, leaving in a softoner makes it easy to bend!

Why does leave in conditioner make relaxed hair curly?

BECAUSE CONDITIONER HAS VERY GOOD MOISTURIZING ITEMS IN IT AND U SHOULD PANTINE PRO-V

Why does leave in conditioner make relaxed hair curly?

Keeps it moist. The reason relaxers work so well because they dry our hair out. You'd be better with blow drying it once you put the leave-in conditioner in it or let it look curly.

I have a hair catastrophe!?

i am young and vibrant but my hair is not. I have thick african american hair. i am runnin out of hairstyles and i need help. can any1 give me a hairstyling tips that do not involve heat such as straighten combs or blow dryers and chemicals.....plz

I have a hair catastrophe!?

Shave it off and wear a wig. You can change it as you like, and be a wild bald woman if you want!

I have a hair catastrophe!?

No please change your avatar. It's not Christmas anymore. Time to get a new hat.

I have a hair catastrophe!?

braids ... or random braids ..

hey .. how about dreadlocks?

I have a hair catastrophe!?

braid it!

I have a hair catastrophe!?

corn rows are cool

I have a hair catastrophe!?

i have portuguese hair and african american hair in the back

u cud put it in a pony tail

I have a hair catastrophe!?

k go to a salon and they will do somthin they have tons of books

I have a hair catastrophe!?

try braids, they're funky and keep your hair tamed.

you could have one braid, two, or lots of little ones, or random ones along with the rest of your hair.

hope that helps, and if you've already tried that, im sorry. good luck!

I have a hair catastrophe!?

Dread locks are hott

I have a hair catastrophe!?

You could try cornrows?

I have a hair catastrophe!?

Dreads will be the best thing, next will be the braids. You can get a low cut hair style if you feel comforatable with that.

I have a hair catastrophe!?

Try double strand twists. You can also do a hot oil treatment. You can also get individual braids, or get your hair locked into dread locks, check also sista locks, they are much smaller than dread locks, and you can style them in anyway you want. You can also use yahoo and google search engines for hairstyles or check Essence magazine for other ideas. Good luck. I keep my hair natural too, and it gets frustrating at times.

I have a hair catastrophe!?

Ugh everyone is saying : braid it, cornrows, dreads.

Its suuch a stereotype. I was going to say get it curled, but you said you dont wat heat. So I'm not really sure. PLEASE dont braid it!

I have a hair catastrophe!?

You can buy some cream that makes your hair curly and slick it back and wear it in a ponytail that way it would be curled without heat.

My 13 yr old niece has loss of hair, what can I do?

She is African American and the hair loss is only in the top middle part of her head

My 13 yr old niece has loss of hair, what can I do?

If is it a small spot and not a chemical burn it could be alopecia if so she needs to see a dermatologist. Also if you want to had it temporarily put her hair in a ponytail high enough to cover the patch.Just so you know alopecia is very common among African American it is treatable in most cases so don't be nervous.

My 13 yr old niece has loss of hair, what can I do?

buy her a wig!!

My 13 yr old niece has loss of hair, what can I do?

Go to the DR and ask about alopecia, or look it up. They can do something about it. We've come a long way. It may even be a hormonal imbalance.

My 13 yr old niece has loss of hair, what can I do?

She could have some vitamin/mineral deficiency. Check that out with multivitamins/calcium etc. Also check whether she is tying or pulling or tugging at her hair in any form(could even be for straightening or decorating). That could also cause loss of hair for some people over a period of time. Olive oil in the diet is helpful too. And if it persists, do take her to a doctor before it gets worse. Best of luck and God Bless! :)

My 13 yr old niece has loss of hair, what can I do?

When you take her to the Doctor, remember to ask about her thyroid. It is a symptom of thyroid troubles which can be fixed. But DO check with the doctor as to why it is happening.

If the family Doc isnt able to find a cause, try to find a good psycologist. She might have a disorder which causes her to pull out her hair. It might be happening in her sleep therefore she would not know she is doing it.

good luck!

I have another hair weave question?

How do I keep the weave(tracks) from coming out when I comb it?

When I do little strands come out and its very annoying is there anyway to prevent this?

Whats the best hair for african americans?

I have another hair weave question?

before you put the hair in your head wash and comb it thru with conditioner. Blow dry and wear. I cant guarantee that it won't shed but at least it won't shed as much.

Try to get a texture of hair(weave) that is closest to your texture. It will look natural.

Good Luck!

I have another hair weave question?

dont comb it wear your original hair be you god looks at you like a beautiful swan so screw whoever think different be you!!

I have another hair weave question?

straight long pretty hair! best answer pleazeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I have another hair weave question?

Fake hair, fake boobs, fake lips, fake butts, face lifts, tummy tucks, brow lifts, I don't think we take out women anymore, I think we are dating a plastic woman

I have another hair weave question?

how is the tracks connected?

I have another hair weave question?

You are always going to lose some. Spend more time gently combing it. I had extensions and I shed like a sheep dog. It ended up everywhere. I had natural hair, but I am white. the asian hair was too thick and coarse, but european hair was good for a white girl. I've seen black girls with european hair that looked fantastic.

I have another hair weave question?

Quality hair sheds less. Otherwise... there's no way to stop that. Again, best hair I've used is Remi, especially Remi Goddess. Beverly Johnson has been good to me, too.

I have another hair weave question?

Try not to comb it, brush it. How long have you had it in? Sometimes if it needs to be taken out some strands will come out. I can't remember the name, but you remember the singer Brandy, she has some weave out and it has her picture on the front, it is some good hair, and it's not that expensive i think i got 18inch for about $15-$20, and it looks and feels great.

I have another hair weave question?

You need to comb carefully. Hold the hair close to the weft or tracks. If you can find Samoan hair, that is closest to AA hair.

I have another hair weave question?

Have a hair sytlist try a stronger glue. I wouldn't recommend sewin them in your hair, that causes major breakage to your hair.

Try the new clips that bond the hair when apply with heat.

I have another hair weave question?

brush it so that when it do come out cant nobody see it i dont like getting mine glued in either when it's sewed in the strands dont come out and the stay in longer

What would happen if I put large rollers in my hair?

What would happen if I put large rollers in my hair?

You will have loose curls that hangs downward.

Buy some Cholesterol and use it once or twice weekly you can leave it in as long as you like (5min. or even overnight) this should help it to become stronger and avoid any further breakage.

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

This will be my first photo shoot to begin building my modeling portfolio. I am African-American with relaxed hair that stops right at my shoulders. The shoot will be a spring time theme taking place in a garden.

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

I think it would look really pretty half up with perhaps a fressh bloom tucked behind an ear or pinned in the back, or even a silk floral barrette of some kind being its an outdoor shoot. Something relatively simple if you go with a barrette or clip. Don't overdo it with the hair ornament though , you want the focus to be on you.

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

short hair or wear ur hair up looks better i think, since it's for spring/summer time. If it's for fall/winter shoot, i think longer hair will look nicer.

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

shoulder length.

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

Wear it however it shows off your face best.

Go to a good salon and get a consultation first. Then together decide on a plan. You could try a few hairstyles first.

Then when the big day comes you will be sure how it will turn out. Enjoy your shoot!

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

Where it down with playfull and soft curls. It gives an airy carefree feel that people tend to feel around the spring time. I hope it goes well!

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

Okay well it depends what you are wearing.

1.If you are wearing a nice spring type dress I think definitely consider doing loose but obvious curls

2.If you are wearing a halter than hair up with sweeping bangs

3.Spaghetti Straps or regular short sleeve or etc. sleek straight with bangs to the side

How should I wear my shoulder length hair for an outdoor photo shoot?

Sounds like you need more of a soft look for your hair...if adding curls to your hair is a big of reach.....try the steam curlers (Caruso set)...it might give you style options and also try a good short curl quick weave.....I've heard of people getting their pics done...using a couple of those to achieve different looks.... Hairsisters.com should give you a good idea.

Does brushing your hair at the root, help your hair to grow?

African -AMERICAN HAIR TYPES

Does brushing your hair at the root, help your hair to grow?

The only thing really helps your hair grow is time. Vitamins and whatnot will help it to be healthy but even if it claims that it can make your hair grow faster, it won't!

Does brushing your hair at the root, help your hair to grow?

No. The brushing of hair has nothing to do with growth.

Does brushing your hair at the root, help your hair to grow?

nope, not really. It just produces split ends. Massaging the scalp daily with finger tips, drinking lots of water and taking vitamins all can and will help the hair grow.

Say "no" to the brush. Bad brush.

hth

Does brushing your hair at the root, help your hair to grow?

Unless you are stimulating the scalp alot with the brush by brushing it in this way, I would say no. Scalp stimulation, such as a scalp massage, does encourage hair growth.

Does brushing your hair at the root, help your hair to grow?

Do not brush your hair...especially when it is wet.if you are wanting to stimulate the scalp that is what essential and carrier oils are for. Many natural oils carrier oils such as apricot kernal, cold pressed avocado oil, sesame oil, emu oil, rosehip seed oil, grapeseed moisturizes dry skin and can be used aid in hair growth. To add more strength to the carrier oils, you can add essential oils such as lavender, eucalyptus, frankincense, myrrh, patchouli, rosemary oil, sandalwood oil, and tea tree oil, which is the primary agent stimulating the scalp. About 2 tablespoons of carrier oil to 2 drops of essential oil since essential oil is so concentrated.

Does brushing your hair at the root, help your hair to grow?

No, brushing your hair at the root aids in breakage, snapping, and the pulling of your hair. It helps it not to grow. You should stay away from brushes, if you do use a brush paddle brushes are your safest bet. Try to never use a brush on the roots just a wide tooth comb to keep them untangled.

Are there any hair products for African Americans that make their hair wavy?

I can't really think of any kinds. There might not even be any.

Are there any hair products for African Americans that make their hair wavy?

There are a million different textures to African American hair. The only thing that would make ANYone's hair wavy is to treat it while dry, straighten it as straight as possible then use a wave iron on it or braid it and remove the braids the next day. Otherwise, no.

I would suggest to keep your hair oiled everyday. I use motions anit-breakage CPR which is sooo good I love it! It is light and when makes your hair look straight when need a little touch up. I also do not put ANY heat on my hair whatsoever that will help a lot. Condition it with a deep conditioner every time you get a perm and every 2 weeks if you even if you dont go to your stylist wash and condition your hair. I would recommend all the motions CPR products. Also get your ends clipped every 6 weeks

Check to see if there is a beauty school near you! Most beauty schools offer a wide range of services, while charging you only for the products that they use. A lot of people are afraid to have their hair styled at a school because they're afraid that the students will 'mess it up'. This is generally not the case. Students are closely supervised by experienced teachers, and everyone has to start somewhere, right? Even the greatest of hairdressers were students at one time, and we are all grateful for the opportunity to practice. Best of luck to you!

What's the fastest way to get your hair to grow?

My hair used to be really long and I want it back. I'm African-American and my hair is fine and curly.

What's the fastest way to get your hair to grow?

African hair is not designed to be chemically treated (Permed/relaxed) and when we do, we break/distroy the natural protein-bonds in our hair. But there are ways to keep your perm but have healthy hair that grows. You just have to care for it the right way:

I use "Just For Me" kids relaxer (Im 21, but Mixed, so I can't use the strong adult African-American perms because they break my hair.) Its better to use a weaker perm for your hair than a really strong one. A perm/relaxer that is too stong is the major cause in hair weakness/breakage.

I also use "Motions CPR" Conditioning Treatment every week. After you wash your hair, use CPR, put a plastic cap on and sit under a hooded/bonnet hard-hat dryer for 10 mins, then wash it out. (This is Deep Conditioning) This is the BEST thing you can do for damaged hair... hint *CPR (Critical Repair and Treatment). It really does repair your hair and make it so much stronger and grow fast too. It also keeps your hair healthy even if it already is. It's great!!!

I get my hair straighten once every season (spring, fall, winter, summer) so thats also the same time I get my hair trimed. You need to trim your ends too. This is very important to slowly get rid of those dead/split ends which causes moisture lost. Split ends causes your hair to break, because if it cant properly hold moisture, then causes your hair cutiles to open wider and break.

My hair is so thick, healthy %26amp; long from taking care of it and using the products below. I'll give you the links. You can find all of this at Wal-mart, Sally's, or any Black hair store.

Also our hair is made of protein (all protein), so you may want to look into your diet and make sure you are getting enough. Taking a women's multi-vitamin everday will make sure you are getting enough of it, along with calcium which our hair also loves. You have to take care of your hair from the inside and outside. Hair products take care of the outside. But you also have to check on the inside... your diet! to make sure your hair has what it even needs to grow and thicken.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Wouldn't it be different for you since you are mixed? Race has nothing to do with anything now a days but my cousin is mixed, black and white, and preferably on her african side we have no long hair..but she is also part white which gives her long hair.. Report It

What's the fastest way to get your hair to grow?

I do not know that much about your hair...

but the best way i know of is to trim the splitends off

that is how my mothers kept growing....

What's the fastest way to get your hair to grow?

people say that cutting the split ends off makes it grow faster but that is not true. The already grown out part of your hair has no connection with how fast it grows. Cutting it just makes it look more healthy

What's the fastest way to get your hair to grow?

There aren't many ways to help it grow out but there are somethings you can do to prevent it from breaking.

-Rubber-bands promote hair breakage. If you have to use them try using the cloth scrunchy ones.

-Never sleep with your hair in a tight braid or pony tail.

-Avoid dying or perming your hair.

-Use a good moisturizer

-Wait for your hair to air dry before brushing it.

What's the fastest way to get your hair to grow?

I am a African American cosmetologist . What I recommend to all my clients is to STOP using no-lye relaxers. Shampoo and condition hair every 4-6 days. For best results use Nexxus products. The products are probably more than you are used to paying but the results are worth it.

Why do hispanics think everyone else is white who is (not African American)?

I am sicilian/italian and (dark skinned dark eyes jet black curly hair) and so is all my family Dad's side. Yet I have seen some hispanics that look completly white blonde red hair very pale skin blue eyes ect you get the hint yet they are full blooded.

Yet I am considered white by American society. Alot of dark complected (I dont mean tan) Italians feel the same way I do. I do not look white. I am curious thats all.

Why do hispanics think everyone else is white who is (not African American)?

I am Latino, i lived up north where ive heard that italians are the closest whites to being black since sicily and the boot is madd close to africa if ya don kno. there r alot of dark colored italians out there. Now i live in south florida, haitians jamaicans and africans is black.

all "hispanic" people arent hispanic. people from cuba and pr and them islands r hispanic except for jamaica and haiti ya kno. south americans are latins and mexicans r mexicans to b real. and spainards from spain r spanish. thats sumn people dont kno if ya wana classify us.

also dawg, america is racist as fcuk.. life is about saying **** the haters. straight up bra. u just gotta not worry bout those who come at u wrong. ive come across alot of bullshit problems cause the color of my skin.n its all came from hatin *** mawfuckas.

im latin and i can vibe wit italians. also blacks my spanish people and indians. it don matter to me cause ive grown a lil. i aint immature. last dawg dont classify all hispanics as a race who think ery1 who aint black is white. obviously i just stated the opposite bra. take it ez daw

Why do hispanics think everyone else is white who is (not African American)?

I've noticed this too. I don't have an answer for ya bud.

Why do hispanics think everyone else is white who is (not African American)?

hispanics are usually white themselves. they're just white ppl who speak spanish, maybe with some native american in their blood.

that's what hispanic means "spanish speaking ppl" of course cultural differences...

Why do hispanics think everyone else is white who is (not African American)?

You dont look white because you probably have some hellenistic or arab or maybe gypsie descent. As for your question, not all hispanics think that, and you need to remeber that latin america especially Brazil(we hold the most italians and italian descent out of italy,we have 25 million) Argentina(97%white holds alot of italians and german descent)and Mexico have lots of European blood.my grandfather is blonde with blue eyes and curly hair,he is of Spainard,Indigenous and Portuguese descent. So we arent pure blooded as you say,America is nuts, and is the only racially preocupied country!

Why do hispanics think everyone else is white who is (not African American)?

who knows

Why do hispanics think everyone else is white who is (not African American)?

I've always considered Italians/Scilians, Spaniards and Greeks to be white.

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

im african american and my hair is dry short and very damaged can i do any thing to get it long and shinny. i was wondering should i wash my hair every day?

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

at least 5 times or wash it every day for even better hair

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

As often as it becomes dirty. There are no rules, and frequent washing does not damage hair, no makes it more greasy or more dry.

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

i wash my hair everyday but sometimes i wash it with a gap of 1 day..

And i heard somewhere that it isnt good to wash ur hair everyday DO U PEOPLE THINK THAT IS TRUE? IF YES WHY?

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

Washing your hair frequently is the worst thing you can do. Do your own Google search: " Daily washing hair harmful?"

www.bonbonsinthebath.com

www.targetwoman.com

AND this site:

www.peterdunn.org.uk

States "Shampoos damage your hair, so you should check the ingredients for sodium laurel sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, and propylene glycol, all of which are harmful to health.

Sodium Laurel sulphate is a dangerous substance which foams readily, making the shampoo or gel thicker and therefore seem richer. Sodium laureth sulphate is a less harmful form, but both damage hair follicles and cause hair loss.

They also harm the eyes, so stinging is nature's way of warning you. Tests show fetuses subjected to these substances do not develop functioning eyes, and they are implicated in the formation of cataracts in adults. Propylene glycol - antifreeze - is a known skin irritant and is thought to cause mouth ulcers and even oral cancer when used in mouthwash. It also damages the kidneys and liver.

Most of the chemicals we put on our skin are readily absorbed into the body, especially nitrates. One study showed that one shampooing can put more nitrate into your blood than eating a pound of bacon". Read much more about frequent washing dangers on this same site.

you should wash it every other day ..

if you wash it every dayy it`ll get too dry

if you don`t wash it enough it`ll be dirty :|

so every other day is good :]

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

well,i think you should wash your hair daily and dont forget to use hair conditioner...this can repair your damage hair and will make your hair more shiny !! hmm, you can also use the shampoo with conditioner so that your hair can become longer in a short period of time...

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

i wouldnt say everyday... it damages ur hair in the long run... letting ur hair breathe for a day or two is good... ur scalp secretes natural oils that keep ur roots healthy and makes ur hair grow faster... i would say 2 days a week wud suffice... but if it gets really oily, then maybe equally spaced- 3 times a week...

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

Every day is better

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

It depends on your hair type. Usually it is best to wash it everyday..if not twice a day. But sometimes..for those who have extra dry hair and a sensitive scalp..you might have to go a day with out and just use like a leave in conditioner. If you have really oily hair..you might want to take it easy on the conditioner and depending on how your hair looks and feels..wash it every other day.

How many times should i wash my hair in a week?

It's not good to Wash your hair too often but you want to wash it often enough for it to be clean! So I recommend every other day!

Advice on hair??

Ok, I've asked 2 questions about curly haired celebrities. My answers led me to this chart:

http://www.curl2curl.com

Looking at the chart, I would peg myself at about a C3. Can you think of cute hairstyles you've seen on the C3's and sen me pictures?? Just to let you know, I don't have African American hair...just very curly hair.

Also, can you give some good product suggestions??

Remember: I am a C3.

Thanks everyone!! I'm Victoria. If you have questions about my question, ask.

Advice on hair??

Tips for your hair:

Shampoo hair less frequently; occasionally rinse and condition instead.

Use a comb to detangle your hair in the shower while your conditioner is in.

If you leave it until you get out of the shower your hair will be fuller with less curl separation, unless you comb styling products through.

Apply your styling products after your hair has been towel blotted.

Do not "scrub" the hair with the towel, it promotes frizz.

Use creamy conditioning smoothing products mixed with a texturizer

(i.e. liquid gel that doesn't dry stiff) for example, mix *Kiehl's Silk Groom

(creamy) with *Aveda Elixir (texturizer)

Curlfriends has all type of products to take care of curly or wavy hair, thick or fine.

Im african-american and my hair isn't really coarse, but it it's curly and it gets really bushy without any products. and Im wondering what products whould help tame my frizz and way down my hair for less curl.

How do I control my curly frizzy hair?

Never "way down" your curly hair. first throw away all your brushes! comb your hair in the shower under the water and air dry.

How do I control my curly frizzy hair?

Try a relaxer, but dont leave it in the full time so that way it partially relaxes your curls, but there is still a wave.

How do I control my curly frizzy hair?

TRY JAPPANNESE STRAIGHTENING, ON SALON,

MY FRIEND DID IT, AND ITS LIKE JUST NOT HER HAIR, I ***** BELEIVE IT MAN

How do I control my curly frizzy hair?

John Freda has a product called "Straight Answer" that you can spray in your hair and blow-dry in, and it will tame it down somewhat. I find that gel like Loreal Studioline melting gel helps too.

What is the best hair brush that will not increase shedding or breakage?

what is the best hair brush that will not increase shedding or breakage? Where can i buy it?

I have african american hair ( its relaxed /straightened). Its quite long, bra strap lenght hair

What is the best hair brush that will not increase shedding or breakage?

Use a comb. Seriously, I am in Cosmetology school right now, and I have learned that using a comb, or a nylon bristle brush, on dry hair ONLY (combing or brushing hair when wet damages it and breaks it right off) is best. Start from the ends and comb with and upward motion. From ends to roots, to get the tangles, then back down.

What is the best hair brush that will not increase shedding or breakage?

Get a brush with a square head. It doesn't pull out your hair as much as round heads and barrel brushes.

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

i know that people say that you can use hot oil treatments, use plenty of grease, use the right shampoo, take prenatal pills, and ect. but is there anything else that i can do or use...i am african american with nappy hair which means my hair takes longer to grow! please help me!!!!

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

First being African-American doesn't mean it always takes your hair long to grow. I am fully African-American and my hair is very long. It's just that most have that problem. Ok now try a fuse treatment, it looks like a curling iron and it has a coil attachment that infuses your hair with a liquid as you curl. I had it done a while back and my hair has grown ALOT. Also braids make your hair grow naturally and quickly.

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

im african american and yes u need deep coonditioning, hot oil treatents to make it shiny if u want, one a day vitamins and a good shampoo like pantene for women of color..if u r into pressing the hair a lot thats a big no no u need to leave it in braids or twists, have your hair natural and it will grow, many ppl grease their scapls dont do that use a light oil like carrot oil or olive oil,(get your hair clipped when needed)and also lots of water and a blanced diet will get your hair groing,it also deopends on your genetics and if a parent has long short or med.hair length..good luck!

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

i suggest u wear little to no ponytails.

oil you hair with natural things every other day.( coconut oil, carrot oil, olive oil)

wash it every sunday (start the week fresh)

trim it before so u can have a noticable difference in about 3 weeks.

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

as a professional african american hair stylist make sure to keep you scalp clean and manipulate you scalp to help circulate the blood in your head, prenatals are good to but you can find other vitamins designed specifically for your hair. Good luck.

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

These is no miracle about hair grow, I live in a nordic area and usually hair grow faster in the summer because people eat better food (more fresh) and exercise better too. There is nothing exterior (like oil or any "elixir") that you can use to help your case. On the other hand you know that hair is a protein and it grows from inside (follicle), you are what you eat. Good food and good living usually means great hair! Good luck!

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

I'm telling you, the East Indian secret of using coconut oil with make your hair grow. My mother used to oil my hair when I was a kid, so I have had coconut oil in my hair everyday Don't put too much oil and make sure you really massage it into the scalp. The good thing about this is it will help you sleep better. Maybe my hair naturally is dry so it doesn't get oily when i use coconut oil Oil treatment is also recommended for dry and damaged hair that is dandruff-prone

. Heat coconut oil and apply on the scalp, the night before you shampoo

chemically-treated hair: When you use warmed oil you are nourishing your hair. So, chemically-treated hair also definitely benefits. It improves the quality of the hair. You can have henna treatments once a week

What can i do to get my hair to grow longer?

Sorry, but you need a long hair care plan to make your hair grow fast. It is process, but it does work. So just be patient. Remeber, that just because you have african american does not mean that it will not grow hair. Stop cutting it and follow these tips.

From all my years of experience as a hair stylist, I would suggest that the first thing you do for your African American hair is to keep it moisturized and treat it often to a deep condition. Here is a good homemade conditioner that will soften, smooth, and moisturize your hair and roots.

Mix 2 tablespoons of Mayonnaise and 1 egg. Let it sit on your hair for at least an hour. If you have a hair bonnet dryer, sit under it for 30 minutes with this on your hair. It will tame and soften your new growth. Try this 2-3 times a week.

The next thing you need to understand is that you can grow your hair by using a good, all natural hair growth product. Stay away from the drugstore, beauty supply, and commercial shampoos. If you buy most, if not all, of your hair care products from traditional drugstores and beauty supply stores, you are most likely buying hair-damaging products that are full of nothing good for your hair. Just because it says Dr. Miracles super hair growth oil doesn閳ユ獩 mean it contains things that actually stimulate hair growth. Trust me, you need to read the ingredients and not just the title of the product. For healthy hair growth to occur, avoid products that contain even the slightest amount of synthetic emulsifiers and harsh detergents, such as Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Phosphates, Dimethicone, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. These products are loaded with toxins and chemicals that dry and strip your hair of everything it needs to grow.

The best all-natural product that is truly for your hair type and has proven results is Beauty 4 Ashes Super Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner. I recommend it to all of my clients and use it myself. It has aloe vera, rosemary, neem, and a host of other goodies for your hair that make it grow long and fast and stay strong and healthy. Your hair will no longer break, shed or be unruly and unmanageable. It will even make your relaxers, if you relax, less frequent. Compared to other hair growth and natural products, including Nioxin and Carol閳ユ獨 Daughter, this costs a lot less and works better. Go to wwwdiscoverb4acom to find it.

If you don閳ユ獩 buy this, make sure you do your pre-treatment. And don閳ユ獩 get your haircut, unless it is extremely damaged. If your hair is splitting just get a minor trim, all you need is 褰?inch trim.

Remember to eat a lot of protein, especially fish for essential fatty acids. If you are a vegetarian, eat lots of legumes and beans. Drink 8-10 glasses of water and take B vitamins.

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

I'm African American and my hair is brown. I want to dye the top portion of my hair honey blonde while leaving the bottom (underneath) portion brown. I've dyed my hair honey blonde before and it looked great, but I like the two-tonal look. Do you know what this dying technique is called? Does anyone have an tips or pictures? Do you know of any celebrities that have this style?

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

Too easy.

Just section the top layer off using a comb. Pin it up, and then put a sheet of tin foil over the bottom layer. Hold it in place with rubber pins (metal may react with the dye). Make sure the foil completely covers the area of hair that you don't want to colour.

Then, just do the dye part. You don't need to be too careful when you rinse it out because the bleach won't dye the rest of your hair in the few seconds it's in contact with it.

I don't know what the name of this technique is called, but I did it on my own hair, sort of. I sectioned off a big chunk of hair on my top layer and bleached it white blonde, and then dyed the rest of my hair dark brown. It looks awesome and nobody can believe I did it myself. It was super easy.

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

You should go to a salon and have it done. It is not fun to mess up on hair. Even though it is just hair, it sucks to have bad hair.

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

They sell caps that are made just for that. Visit your local beauty salon.

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

whem my friend did this she held up the top of her hair and when the dye was on wrapped it in cling film or tin foil or someting then washed it off carefully making sure the dye did not go on the bottom half of her hair.

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

just go have it done professionally it will be a hella lot easier for u.

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

You need another set of hands...get a girlfriend or ur Mom to section off your hair and dye the sections one at a time and foil them over...take your time but not too much time! I've seen them paint the hair with a brush...hope this helps?

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

I say see a colorist. If no, I say put the portion of hair that you don't want colored in a pontail and the rest leave out. the portion that will be colored I say separate into four sections. Take hair color pour it into a bowl. Get a tint brush from the beauty supply store and then apply the color to your hair as if you were doing a relaxer that way the color will only get to the section you want.

How do I dye the top portion of my hair only?

Well my hair is blonde with black underneath, I went to a salon to get this done, then after once you know where to dye, you can carry on doing this at home, i just grab all of my blonde bits that i want to dye and just tie the rest up...sounds asif it woundnt work but mines fine!!

Setting lotion without washing hair?

I have African American hair that is chemically straightened can I use setting lotion and plastic rollers to curl my hair overnight w/o washing it or will it break my hair? thanks

Setting lotion without washing hair?

I would check with the beauty supply store. You probably need something alcohol free. There is a setting lotion for shampoo sets. A shampoo set only lasts two or three days, so the setting lotions are probably mild. I've had my hair set a few times and it was always washed. The cleanliness seems to help the hair curl better and stay curled longer. I just remembered, you need to wet your hair anyway so why not wash it? You don't use a great deal of the lotion so I doubt it can go on dry hair. But who knows what new products are available. That is why I suggest the beauty supply store so you can get what is most appropriate.

Setting lotion without washing hair?

Wouldn't advise it. The hair will probably break as it has already been weakened by the chemical straightening. Why did you have it straightened if you want to curl it? Maybe try hot rollers. Using a leave-in conditioner helps too.

Setting lotion without washing hair?

It wont break your hair, but it probably wont get you the results you want. Setting lotion is for wet sets. I personally used to spritz it with water, like from a spray bottle, and then use the setting or wrapping lotion. I would recommend if you dont want to go to bed with you hair damp, just roll your hair dry, and use a holding spray, the spray will help keep the curls in place.

Setting lotion without washing hair?

Yes but you must dampen your hair before adding the setting lotion or you will end up with white junk in your hair. Never add a setting lotion to dry hair. Just dampened it. I always add Luster Pink Oil Moisturizing Lotion to my hair when I add the setting lotion to have some kind of shine to my hair. I use Lotta Body Setting Lotion.

Setting lotion without washing hair?

The link below is for the article: Ready, set, roll! There's nothing sexier than a plush, pretty roller set

Setting lotion without washing hair?

No it won't break your hair, the set just won't hold up as long as it would with a setting lotion. They could have some type of spray bottle with a much lighter formula that you could use instead of traditional setting lotion.

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa

...and, even though it may have been six generations since their families left Africa.

On the other hand, I have two friends who really ARE from Africa...one from Zimbabwe and one from Zaire...how shall I call them, to indicate that they are (proudly!) in the process of gaining their citizenship here, and yet distinguish them from folks who were born and raised here, the same as I was?

I'm genuinely confused about this, and have no desire to hurt anyone's feelings. What's best to do...apart from taking a tedious and insulting poll of every individual I meet? Is it alright to simply call anyone born in the U.S. American, and let it go at that?

I feel that we are living in a time of tiresome hair-splitting over names. I'm really tired of it. Any advice is welcome!

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa...?

I find that really strange too! I do not go around saying that i am German-American. I am American and so are those black Americans. JUST AMERICAN.

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa...?

they say that they are african american there are not but there parnts are so that means that he is african american

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa...?

You can refer to them as first generation African-Americans to aknowledge their status as immigrants or hell, you could call them by name. :)

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa...?

How do those frieds of yours feel about people that aren't from Africa calling themselves African Americans? Thats what really counts how do they feel if it doesn't bother them then its alright but if they don't approve then maybe let your other friends know that its an insult to the people that are actually African American.

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa...?

They are proud of being descendant of Africans.

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa...?

To me if u r born in America, thats what u r American!!!!!!!!!!!

Some people I've met call themselves African-American, even though they aren't from Africa...?

Africans were on the slave ships that eventually landed in America.since over 400 years of slavery . and present day overt and covert racism and racist laws and practices by ''the white man'' have set and held the free slaves and their descendants back and down.we so called African Americans who originally came from many African countries but brought or born here in the country that the white stole from the //natives//..we know what they did to us so we remind them, you must remember that Africa is a continent..our mothers land

besides separation is the way the man keeps his power.

oh you re a African American? '' you wont be getting this here job blackie'' the white man said after he tossed the application in the trash can.

to make a long story short African and African Americans are black....even the mixed ones

i hope this helps

What color highlights should i get... i have dark brown hair?

so my hair has some natural highlights but you can only see them in the light if the hair is flipped over. so im getting highlights and i was wondering what colors look best with flat ironed african american and indian hair that is the darkest brown not black. thanks

What color highlights should i get... i have dark brown hair?

I also have dark brown hair. I've tried different colors for highlights and I thought the following looked best:

Mocha

Red

Dark Caramel

I don't like blond highlights in dark hair so the above all look nice. Your hairdresser will know what you mean if you tell them mocha.

What color highlights should i get... i have dark brown hair?

texture %26amp; tones have the best color... for you i would say a classy color would be the flaming desire 8RO .... to go bold... ruby rage.... or red hot red :-)

What color highlights should i get... i have dark brown hair?

deep carmel would look gorgeous

What color highlights should i get... i have dark brown hair?

Question about short hair...?

I am an african american with short hair; shaved in the back. My kitchen has grown out a little and I was wondering, does anyone know what do the professionals use to make the kitchen lay down? Also does anyone know what electric curlers work the best to give the closest salon look possible?

Question about short hair...?

im not full AA but i kinda know that either you get some relaxer, or you get some conditioner and a good brush and work on those bad boys until they start to lay down then hit em with the gel. But too much gel dries out your hair so keep deep conditioning it and make sure to trim your ends to grow out your hair. But you shouldnt shave your hair anymore, number 1 cus sometimes people can tell and number 2 because it doesn't matter what type of hair you have its beautiful and dont listen to ignorant people!

閳?br> good luck

Question about short hair...?

uh whats a kitchen?? weirdoo.. thats a place in a house where you cook!

How do i get my hair really straight like this!!??

how do i get this thick full look? my hair is so flexible and when mositure gets to its it wavys up i want it to stay full, thick, straight all day, i want it to be a little stiff like when an african american straightens there hair its a little stiffer but flexible at the same time. okay so what kind of products can i use??? k thanks

How do i get my hair really straight like this!!??

None of your pics came thru, but you can use a root lifting spray to give you fullness. I use a clothing iron on my hair to get it stick straight. I have very long hair though, shorter hair you would want to use a straightening iron. I suggest using some mousse in your hair to give you stiffness. Don't use a lot because you will just get crispy flakey hair.

I never had any luck with straightening serums,

How do i get my hair really straight like this!!??

i did not see one example of strait hair in the first link. and the second link did not work for me it told me page not found.

How do i get my hair really straight like this!!??

My best bet would be for you to go to a black hair salon, let them do your hair %26amp; usually they will tell you what to use, what to buy, how cheap you can get it, etc etc...if you live in So Cal like I do, going to LA would be best. =]

I'm also guessing you might have thin hair or what not, but they can also tell you about products that can make your hair grow more(naturallyyyyyyyyy) or make it more fuller. Ask around other than the net lol.

How can I dye my hair a certain color without bleaching?

I'm African-American and my hair is black. I want to dye my hair burgandy and want the color to really stand out.

How can I dye my hair a certain color without bleaching?

you can use this stuff called mendhi, it works good you can find it at like indian stores.

How can I dye my hair a certain color without bleaching?

If this is your first time coloring your hair, I'd suggest going to a professional to get it done so that it comes out correctly.

How can I dye my hair a certain color without bleaching?

Get a salon pro to help you.... I have naturally dark hair- almost black. Salons have colors made to show up on dark hair- they deposit color in the hair shaft as opposed to stripping color, as with bleaching. Really- ask a salon professional.

How can I dye my hair a certain color without bleaching?

If u want to dye color by urself then first wash ur hairs with shampoo then let it dry and then apply ur choice of hair color. Let it dry with the normal air flow. Wash it with plain water. Don't use shampoo or soap to wash it off. Then after 3 days again do the same thing. And repeat it again after 3 days. THe three layers of coating will make it a strong presence. And one thing i tell u, with the passage of time, the shine and glow of the color increases. So give it time to decide if its wht u wanted or not.

And if u want to do it by the help of prfessional, then Go to a parlour and tell him ur wish. thats all.

How can I dye my hair a certain color without bleaching?

Dont do it yourself! My hair once went green because i thought i would just save money and do it myself - DONT!

Go to a salon and once the colour has been done correctly, you can ask your hairdresser for advice on how to keep it that colour yourself. Its well worth spending the money the first time.

How can i get my Hair to grow, It is breaking and thinning.?

My hair is on my lower neck ,upper shoulder, Im an African American and my hair is permed.

How can i get my Hair to grow, It is breaking and thinning.?

Well, first off you need to consult a Beauty Stylist. I suggest a hot-oil treatment. It's deep-conditioning. It'll basically make her hair breathe a sigh of relief. I reccomend The Motions hairline that's remotely for and targets African Americans like myself. It's really good. Here are some products That'll be really good for you:

i reccomend putting your hair in different styles of cornrows for a little while or leaving it in a wrap

How can i get my Hair to grow, It is breaking and thinning.?

Sorry to hear that, hon. It sounds like its over-processed. When that happens the only thing to do is cut it off and let it regrow. Since most of us don't want to do anything that drastic--you can try a good trim and then wear braids or extensions to hide or cover up the thinning areas till the new growth comes in. Then take down the braids and trim off the remains of the over-processed hair. When getting a relaxer its important to note that your hair should never be super straight when it comes out at the sink. Rather it should be wavy and still somewhat full. The straightening should be done at the chair with a flat iron. This makes it easier to do retouches on the new growth and maintain the overall strength and elasticity of the hair. Otherwise it becomes over-processed and the chemicals literally kill the hair shaft--causing it to become brittle and break off.

Check out the web for some great braiding styles that will still give you length and style while your hair is growing in. Good luck.

How can i get my Hair to grow, It is breaking and thinning.?

your hair is growing, your just not retaining length. wear protective styles that keep your hair from rubbing against things, such as your clothes %26amp; scarfs.

How can i get my Hair to grow, It is breaking and thinning.?

hair is protein, a diet that is too low in protein may cause some thinning in hair or a retardation in the growth cycle. If you eat a protein-rich diet it will often result in improved hair growth. To Know more about your hair http://tipsfromruby-hairgrow.blogspot.co... will help you.

I have caucasian-like hair, should I get microbraids?

I have caucasian hair but I have always loved the style of microbraids on African American hair but have been worried that because of the tightness of the braids it will ruin my hair. Any info?

I have caucasian-like hair, should I get microbraids?

i don't know, should you?

I have caucasian-like hair, should I get microbraids?

it will be uncomfortable if you arent used to it....and depending on your area you might get made fun of....

i think its cute, but people are like that sometimes.

: )

I have caucasian-like hair, should I get microbraids?

unless your hair is really thick, it is not a good idea. it will look silly, and break your hair.

I have caucasian-like hair, should I get microbraids?

White women get braids all the time when they go on vacation in the carribbean or Hawaii. You have nothing to worrry about ~ it's not going to ruin your hair. Go for it.

I have caucasian-like hair, should I get microbraids?

I am white with white hair and I've had micro braids. I had my head cornrowed then had micro-brades throughout the length of my hair. I loved the look and the freedom of the style, but I could only leave the cornrows in for 5 days because my head really hurt and the scalp began to itch. It was not damaging to my hair, but if you have the braids closed with rubber bands, then you may end up pulling some hairs out when you take them out.

I have caucasian-like hair, should I get microbraids?

OK........you said your white.....so am i -a friend i knew had her hair micro-braided and ended up with a lot of breakage and her hair was basically destroyed.....don't do it plus, you'll end up looking like a whigger

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

i am african american and my hair breaks quite a bit. i would like to grow it longer but i don't know how to. it is relaxed and i straighten it only after i wash it and my hair is completly dry.

help!

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

Currently i have long hair and have been learning alot so...

i do not have a relaxer i stopped getting them 5 years ago ( and i've only have 3 relaxers in my life time so this is all natural) so i can show you how to take care of hair with or without a relaxer.

1. The shampoo, unfortunately many black women are using shampoos with alcohol and petroleum jelly. step away from them. Use Aveda's shampoo.. specifically the name is Brilliant...go to the website. I use it, i love it, it mouisterizes my hair and the products are natural. i have also heard that KeraCare is good.

2. Okay, step two condition it and then it is time to comb it out, Do not use a brush on you hair when it is wet,,it will hate you for it then break off in revenge. Put your your sections use a big tooth comb, to untangle it

3. Do a hot oil treatment atleast once a month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat..EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil..not the regular stuff. unfortunately i have yet to take this step however my hair is doing great.

4. Okay on the daily basis you need to pay close attention to your hair...i recommend conditioning your scalp(3-4 times a week) and your ends(everyday) so that they will not get dry and unhealthy Petroleum jellly and mineral oil are weapons of mass destruction ( in other words do not use grease) it does so much harm to your hair it cannot be all explained here. So you ask what do I use...well natural oils

jojoba oi, extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, emu oil, coconut oil...all these natural oils and more love you..i promise.

I also use Aveda's Brilliant ( the name of the brand) emollient for my ends.

5. Next,,if you want your hair straight but still be natural it is time to get a freakin good flat iron.,i have the Chi..it does the job but I recommend getting the Sedu because of the good reviews. make sure to protect your hair..i have so thermal protector from Aveda.

6. If you have a relaxer ( i have heard that Mizani and Affirm are the best relaxers) don't continue to relaxer all your hair everytime you go to the salon..just the new growth and try to stretch relaxers as long as possible.

7. You do not need to trim your hair everytime you go to the salon maybe every 3 to 6 months.

8. Wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf to prevent damage before you go to bed.

9. Eat healthy, drink lots of water,

10 take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.

Follow these steps and life will be good..the best part about flat iron (which i do once a week or every two weeks not everday since it will kill your hair) is that it is not stringy but thick and healthy, yet straight and light enough to blow in the wind.

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

use the protein/oil that they sell at sallys beauty supply

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

dont do straightening.. thats wat makes it dry.. leave ur hair as it is.. after washing ur hair use conditioners like mrs. marino.. that'll fix it..

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

Pantene moisturizer, shampoo and conditioner.

shampoo your hair once, then condition it twice.

the 2nd time, [conditioner] leave it in your hair for about 2 mins, with you hair tied up, then rinse throughly.

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

Use a daily shampoo and conditioner to soften your hair. Also, apply a little leave in moisturiser with oil to your hair. It will be more manageable and softer too. Try it. :)

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

my hair use to break all the time till i switched shampoos...try ausy shampo that they show on conersals and the 3 min mirical conditioner...make sure to condition your hair, that is what rejuvanates your hair and makes it soft. if all else fails go to a beauty salon and ask them. but im telling you that stuff works!!!

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

Well your hair needs two things: Moisture and Protein. Because our hair tends to lose moisture a lot we need to constantly be moisturizing it (daily). I moisturize my hair everyday and my hair has become much softer and I don't have a lot of breakage anymore. You also need to have a hair regime. I wash my hair once a week with shampoo and condition and then apply my protein which is Infusion 23 leave in conditioner.

I recently found this web forum where black women talk about their hair and how they keep it healthy. Check it out. You will learn so much about your hair and what it needs. http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/

How can i get my hair to become more manageable and soft?

egg white is a good option..apply egg white on ur hari and leave it for 5 mins and then shampoo it..its will soften ur hair.

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

how do i get this thick full look? my hair is so flexible and when mositure gets to its it wavys up i want it to stay full, thick, straight all day, i want it to be a little stiff like when an african american straightens there hair its a little stiffer but flexible at the same time. okay so what kind of products can i use??? k thanks

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

For the thick look, the celebrities wear extensions. African Americans use marcel irons to get the straight look. When your hair is straight, you have to avoid as much moisture as possible. When I used to wear short hair styles I had to avoid moisture because my hair would either wave or puff out. When taking a shower, try not to have the bathroom really steamy. Leave the door open if possible, if it rains use an umbrella or some other covering for your hair. Always keep a rain bonnet handy in your purse. I don't know of any products you can use to keep your hair straight. Perms only help so much. If you find a product, let me know! Hope this helps.

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

usually, a person like that is born with somewhat straight hair. but try using a herbal essences dangerously straight products with some thickening spray from bed head. and some straighters..........

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

its not the product its the method ....they wash deep condition go under the dryers....then they get their hair put into rollers go under the dryer and then the hair is blowdryed and flat ironed after...its long its tedious but it does the trick and adds tons of volume....either that or after the dc (deep condition) its blowdryed and then they take a ceramic iron and curl the entire head in sections and pin it until they later flat iron it

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

well if you live where theres lots of humidity like i do...the poof wont go away if your outside for too long.

i say use a shampoo with body enhancer if your hair is thin otherise straighten it normally and add in the leave in conditioner.

it keeps my thick hair full and together not so frizzified if that helps

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

Paul Mitchell skinny products and a P.M. flat iron. I love his products and they really work. Shampoo,Condition, blow dry using a brush and flat iron using his serum. Stays straight all day and night you may have to touch up lightly in the morn. Trust me Im a stylist.

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

You can only get really good results if you naturally have somewhat straight soft hair to begin with...but you can still straighten your hair no matter what texture you have it just wont be perfect...try this...and see how you like it..my sister does this and swears by it..even tho i think its weird...fill your tub and put like 2 caps of baby oil in there while its filling...don't over due it cos that will be bad just 2-3 caps...then when your done layn in it dunk your hair in it 2-3 times then get up and shower and wash your hair off...it puts that little bit of stiffness to it your talking about...its kinda like a stiff wet looking shinny look...

How do i get my hair really straight like this???

Use your house iron, It's hard, but the results are great. You'll have pretty straight hair. There is no need to use hair products, well at least in my case.

PH hair!??

how can i add PH to my coarse african american hair??? please help winner gets 10 pionts

PH hair!??

Like pH balenced? First I would suggest a relaxer if you don't already have one. Use a neutralizing shampoo and a pH balenced shampoo and conditioner. But hair oil in your hair and blow dry it until half dry then let it air dry. Once COMPLETLY dry use a thermal creme/spray and flat iron your hair.

hope I helped! =]]

PH hair!??

Even water effects the ph content of the hair, you need to go to a salon and have them to a ppt treatment, (polypeptide) this will go into the cortex of the hair and help restore the ph balance. Or you could do a REDKEN chemistry shot with 5.5 phixphase.

How to keep my perm(chemically straight) hair healthy?

I'm african american and my hair is permed(chemically straighted) it has been for a while and I know if I don't take care of it will fall out and I love my hair now.I was wondering does any one have any tips on how I can my hair heathly and in great shop.thax in advance

How to keep my perm(chemically straight) hair healthy?

apply a leave in conditioner to your hair sometimes because it will strengthen it. also, pantene has a really nice lotion for hair that i use and it helps mine. i have a perm too and my hair is down my back. it's really good for your hair. look for it in a brown bottle.

How to keep my perm(chemically straight) hair healthy?

Panteen, or however the hell you spell it lol lazy day, is HORRIBLE for your hair if processed... yes even the so called "for women of color" version. I suggest Optimum brand products. I too have my hair relaxed (that is what we do to our hair, you perm it if you want it curly...) but my hair grade is so fine that i cannot leave it in for too long. My hair is wavy and curly but THICK, so i go from relaxed to straight depending on the season.

I recommend a GOOD beautician. Be VERY careful of who you allow to touch your hair... I'm so cautious... dont be afraid to tell them what you dont like, dont want and are concerned about. Afterall it is your hair and you will be the one looking a hot wreck if they mess it up.

So yeah stay away from that pantine*so and try Optimum. My sister does my hair and she uses something called Alter Ego to condition my hair and treat my scalp to prevent any problems that might arise from it being relaxed. Alter Ego is wonderfull!! I swear by it.
