I've got shortish chemically relaxed African-American hair ((though I'm mixed with Caucasian)), and I'm looking into getting my hair bleached at a salon.
I'm going for a flaxen/platinum color ((think Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Paris Hilton, etc.)) and I currently have dark hair ((I dyed it Revlon's "Blue Black" like two months ago, but my dye has washed out for the most part)).
Meaning now, its just dark brown ((like normal)). Anyhow, I know there will be damage like woah, but I really want to get it done, and I need to know what's involved, or if its even possible.
Aside from that, does anyone have any advice on growing hair? Are there certain supplements I can take to aid in that?

Not sure about supplements for hair growth but applying olive oil (for hair) on your scalp works.

You are wading through dangerous waters here-hair relaxers are products made with strong chemicals much like your drano-yes, sodium clorixide, heavy duty stuff. The bleach color you want to achieve has to go through at least 10 steps through the hair lifiting process from brown to orange to yellow to platinum. Your hair (and scalp) could take a beating.
It is strange that you ask how could I grow my hair, when you are looking to cause immense breakage and damage from over processing.
My advice: If you want to have the platinum color, go for the extensions. They are expensive but is it more expensive to lose your hair?
Growing Hair: Hair, no matter who's head it is, grows on an average of half an inch per month. Nothing makes it grow faster. Period.
