What's the fastest way to get your hair to grow?

My hair used to be really long and I want it back. I'm African-American and my hair is fine and curly.

African hair is not designed to be chemically treated (Permed/relaxed) and when we do, we break/distroy the natural protein-bonds in our hair. But there are ways to keep your perm but have healthy hair that grows. You just have to care for it the right way:

I use "Just For Me" kids relaxer (Im 21, but Mixed, so I can't use the strong adult African-American perms because they break my hair.) Its better to use a weaker perm for your hair than a really strong one. A perm/relaxer that is too stong is the major cause in hair weakness/breakage.

I also use "Motions CPR" Conditioning Treatment every week. After you wash your hair, use CPR, put a plastic cap on and sit under a hooded/bonnet hard-hat dryer for 10 mins, then wash it out. (This is Deep Conditioning) This is the BEST thing you can do for damaged hair... hint *CPR (Critical Repair and Treatment). It really does repair your hair and make it so much stronger and grow fast too. It also keeps your hair healthy even if it already is. It's great!!!

I get my hair straighten once every season (spring, fall, winter, summer) so thats also the same time I get my hair trimed. You need to trim your ends too. This is very important to slowly get rid of those dead/split ends which causes moisture lost. Split ends causes your hair to break, because if it cant properly hold moisture, then causes your hair cutiles to open wider and break.

My hair is so thick, healthy %26amp; long from taking care of it and using the products below. I'll give you the links. You can find all of this at Wal-mart, Sally's, or any Black hair store.

Also our hair is made of protein (all protein), so you may want to look into your diet and make sure you are getting enough. Taking a women's multi-vitamin everday will make sure you are getting enough of it, along with calcium which our hair also loves. You have to take care of your hair from the inside and outside. Hair products take care of the outside. But you also have to check on the inside... your diet! to make sure your hair has what it even needs to grow and thicken.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Wouldn't it be different for you since you are mixed? Race has nothing to do with anything now a days but my cousin is mixed, black and white, and preferably on her african side we have no long hair..but she is also part white which gives her long hair.. Report It

I do not know that much about your hair...

but the best way i know of is to trim the splitends off

that is how my mothers kept growing....

people say that cutting the split ends off makes it grow faster but that is not true. The already grown out part of your hair has no connection with how fast it grows. Cutting it just makes it look more healthy

There aren't many ways to help it grow out but there are somethings you can do to prevent it from breaking.

-Rubber-bands promote hair breakage. If you have to use them try using the cloth scrunchy ones.

-Never sleep with your hair in a tight braid or pony tail.

-Avoid dying or perming your hair.

-Use a good moisturizer

-Wait for your hair to air dry before brushing it.

I am a African American cosmetologist . What I recommend to all my clients is to STOP using no-lye relaxers. Shampoo and condition hair every 4-6 days. For best results use Nexxus products. The products are probably more than you are used to paying but the results are worth it.
