Hair Help!!!!!?

A lot of people tell me that they like my "poofy" hair, but I just can't take it anymore. I spend way too much money going to a shop to get my hair done, and I WANT IT STRAIGHT!!!!! I know that I should use a Ceramic Straight Iron, but does anyone know which one I should use??

Here are some things you should know about me:

-my hair is really thick, a little kinky, and is ALWAYS poofy.

-I have african american-type hair, so Pantene and Sunsilk straightening shampoos and conditioners DO NOT WORK.

-My hair is long, past my shoulders, and I do not have a relaxer.

Best Answer to anyone who.....well, gives me the best answer. (ha.) Thanks!!!!!!!!

Hair Help!!!!!?

I have the same problem, my hair is naturally curly, but it takes too much to make it that way, too much goop, so most of the time it is just poofy and it is dow to my knees and I am very tall 5'10" so you can imagine. This is what I do, I stopped using shampoos with sulfates in them bcause they damage your hair in the long run causing more poofiness (not a word I know) so get sulfate free shampoos, it will take a few months to notice a difference, but you will, your hair will be healthier. As far as straightening it, I use a porcelain iron from jilbere de Paris and I use a straightening serum from Hask called "Straight Solution". It works great and my hair feels so silky afterwards. Also, I got to where I only was my hair once a week, it took me about 6 months to get to that point, but now the natural oils in my hair are used me washing it less so it feels clean longer, I would recommend washing your hair no more than twice each week. I never blow dry my hair. I haven't cut my hair in 6 years and have hardly any split ends. I sure hope this helps.

Hair Help!!!!!?

Get a hair straightner and do it yourself! I suggest the brand

I S O international, and straighten once in the morning and once at night. There having a sale now usally there $250 now there $150 so get it quick!

Hair Help!!!!!?

I don't have a relaxer either. When blow drying your hair use something to protect it like a detangler that prevents split ends when blow drying. Then blow dry with comb attachment from root to end. When you done with that you should use a product called press cream by Dudley's it works wonders. After you put that on your hair blow dry it into your hair so you can melt it into the hair. Part you hair into sections and put your flat irons on a fairly high heat. When you are done straightening your hair put a hair gloss over it something thick like a hair serum..

p.s make sure you leave your conditioner in your hair for 15-20 minutes

Hair Help!!!!!?

there is a straightner that is called i think chi or something and i used it at afriends house and it works really well knowing that i have really poofy and curly hair!

Hair Help!!!!!?

I have the SAME exact problem you do,I have puffy, greasy Biracial hair.

I use Porcelain Series (It Goes Up To 450 Degrees) and straightens easily ( in like 10-20 minutes for my hair). It gets REALLY hot....

Or you could also try a straightening perm it cost like $10-$250 to get it permed it just depends if you get it out of a box(@ a store) or done at a Professional Hair Dresser.

I REALLY hope this helps your "Poof" -MiMi

Hair Help!!!!!?

i got the same type of hair super curly. well the one i use that is absolutely perfect is the vidal sasoon ceramic straightener it loohs almost like blabk metal straightener. dont forge to use a sealing balm like cream or baby oil.

Hair Help!!!!!?

If you go to a store such as Wal*Mart or Target they have a large selection of relatively cheap hair straightners. You can choose from different styles and different widths of the ceramic hair straightner. I like the Wet To Straight Hair straightner that I got from Wal*Mart. I donot use it on wet hair and probably wouldn't reccomend it on thick hair. I too have thick poofy kinky hair that is unmanigable. I have started using Herbal Essence Dangerously Staight Shampoo and Conditioner and combined with my straightner my hair has become somuch more manigable! good luck.
