Yes African Amercan babies come out light skinned. They "darken" depending upon their genetics at different rates. My sister is married to an African American and he has an uncle who is extremely light skinned, he is taken for a white man quite often. African American has less to do with the skin color than it does the part of the world one's ancestors come from.

my computer would not allow me to open the link but i can use my imagination. but i knew a family when i was younger and both of the parents were african american and they had a blue eyed, blond haired baby. rumors flew! until they had 3 more kids that looked exactly the same! the kids are still very "white-looking" now and they are in their early teens. someone down the line just had very strong genes :)

Yes an African American baby can look like that. I recently had twins and they both looked like that. Silky hair, pale complexion and all. Both my husband and are both African American, but that does not necessarily mean they will have curly or kinky hair or that they will ever get much darker than they are. I am also light skinned with a very good grade of hair.

Yes an african american newborn can look like that. I was about that color when I was born, now I'm a little darker than Oprah. My son looked white when he was born and is still very fair even though me and my husband are a lot darker than he is. My 4 week old is basically the same color she was when she was born. She's my color. All of my kids had straight smooth hair when they were born as do a lot of black babies. It took about 6 months for my son to get kinky hair. My 4 week old's hair is still silky smooth...only a matter of time before that disappears :)

yes. my son looks similar. I am af am, and his father is af am, and wht. I would think my son would have more aa genes since i am 100% aa and his father is 50% aa but he is 3 1/2 weeks old and his features, skin color, and straight hair have not changed.

When a baby is born it takes 6 to one year for the eyes to change on any baby all baby's change from the time there born to up to 1yr.Any where in between there changing all the time.Haven't you been around other cultures. If not it's time don't you think. Trust me it's not scaring.
